Magic Macebells
Alex Ward, How did you find your first MaceWorks Half Marathon at Fitworks Training Beaconsfield?
Upon arrival all my nerves vanished, I was particularly nervous as I was both participating in the competition but also promoting my products as Magic Macebells which I felt a bit like an impostor with and was worried about treading on other people’s toes. But Hannah gave my partner and I a very warm welcome and it was quickly apparent that the vibe of everyone at the event and on Hannah’s team was super supportive, friendly and curious.
Soon it was time for the lifters briefing which was run professionally and made clear this event was building a fun and supportive Macebell community.
I then watched the first 2 rounds of lifters before I was on in the third. The atmosphere was supportive (and sweaty 🤣 ) with many people getting involved to cheer on the lifters, led by Hannah’s vivacious example! It was amazing the grit and determination that every lifter had, clearly pushing themselves and showing what they could do!”
During lifting: “soon it was my turn to step up, I knew I could swing my chosen weight for half an hour but I did want to push it today and get as many reps as I could. The cheers from the crowd and hearing friendly words of encouragement from recognisable voices really made it easy to keep pushing far beyond what I had achieved in solo training. The minuets quickly flew by and I was super happy knowing I had pushed hard as the final few minuets came and it was a sprint to the finish. “
After lifting: “after about 20 seconds of nearly passing out it was apparent I was literally high, like on drugs, from the amazing endorphin rush of having pushed hard and now having finished. Many fist bumps and hugs quickly followed as fellow lifters congratulated each other and commented on our shared determination. This was such a lovely experience!
Once everyone had done their lifts hannah got everyone together to celebrate each lifter individually by announcing their scores
And handing them a certificate, it was clear everyone’s participation was appreciated and celebrated by everyone in the room, regardless of their score. Then followed group photos and many extended goodbyes.
It’s amazing how friendly and supportive everyone in this community is and it’s a community I am proud to be part of!
Thanks Hannah, team and everyone for the epic day!
